Avignon, and there was more...

Legend says that on the 6th day of creation God had so much beauty left that he needed an extra space to put it, he put it in Avignon.

Students were pleasantly surprised with there concert today at Pont du Gard. A great outdoor venue with warmer climate and lots of natural surroundings. Students had the opportunity to stand at the foot of one of the largest surviving Roman aqueducts which carried over 44 million gallons of water per day.

Concert in Paris...

Today, we began the morning bright and early and loaded the buses to visit Versailles. Students had an opportunity to explore the hunting lodge and the famous Hall of mirrors. After lunch at some local restaurants and the palace we traveled back to Paris for our first concert. We performed Easter Sunday at Notre Dame des Champs in Paris. We hope to figure out how to send audio of the performance before the end of the trip.

Tomorrow we will be taking the TGV to the south of France. We have a concert scheduled for the pont du gard in the morning, one of the best preserved Roman aqueducts in France.

Photos are continuously updating so keep checking to see the events of our musical adventure unfold.

Day 1

Bon matin! At least in France it is about 6:30. Just sent out an email to parents on our list with a link for pictures. If you did not receive this please let me know via email. Depending on the schedule today I will try to respond within 24 hours from now.

Bienvenue!

Dear Mom's and Dad's, A little over twelve hours ago, we had landed at Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris safe and sound. It is now 10:37 PM on good Friday and 3:37 PM in Chicago. We lost seven hours technically and jet lag has set in. There will be some pics starting to post tomorrow evening. We had a chance to visit the Louvre for lunch, and got to take pics of the Eiffel Tower. Tomorrows agenda includes more time at the Louvre and a cruise on the River Seine. Stayed tuned for more updates throughout the week. All 65 of us are having a great time!

Bon Voyage!!!

Bonjour! 3 Days and counting until the Loyola Music Department begins their travel to France as part of a 10 day curricular excursion to the country that developed harmony, and gave birth to the composers in the last 100 years that tried to get rid of it by inventing atonality and the diminished scale. Stay tuned for updates of our adventures and learning.

New Blogger...

Dear Band Members, It has come to my attention that blogger is undergoing a lot of format changes in addition to google. At this time I would like to refrain from using the blog until I know for sure that the site will work. This week in the place of a blog we will have a typed reflection and I will discuss this in class and post something in net classroom explaining the assignment. Mr. Ames
